- GUN CONTROL ENGENDERS VIOLENCE -
Since Prime Minister John (the wimp) Howard enacted nanny nation
gun control laws in Australia (circa 1996 and 2002) the incidence of
gun violence has escalated to a point where Sydney now seems to be more
violent than the most violent US city (would that be LA?).
Practically every day in Sydney there is news of another gangland
killing, usually of innocent byestanders, occasionally of criminals.
Of course all of the important people of Australia (like John the
wimp) are protected by armed guards, and the semi-important people
(like ABC journalists) mostly live in 'urbs that the criminals do not
frequent, often behind apartment security doors.
This increasing violence was predicted by your diarist. It is
so obvious when we consider the punitive restrictions on the public
ownership of guns combined with the diminution in size and the
feminization of our police force. No amount of policing has
kept huge amounts of drugs from being imported or manufactured or
stolen, so why does John the wimp believe that any amount of
legislation would prevent criminals from obtaining guns by importing,
manufacturing or stealing (from the police no less!) them?
