NATIONAL

- RACISM IN AUSTRALIA

Australia is becoming a nation of institutionalized racists.   First there was the extremist response of the major political parties against the Hanson party who wanted to stop positive discrimination on the basis of race.  Then the Australian High Court kept the ball rolling with a racist decision against a person of dual nationality who was elected Senator.  The latest racist activity to surface is the attempt by the Government appointed Republican movement to introduce racism to the Republic referendum by their insistence that the referendum refer to an "AUSTRALIAN" president.  Surely we do not need to legislate that the people's parliament's choice of president must be an Australian citizen?

It is a long way to go before the use of all drugs is legalized, but "a journey of a thousand kilometers must begin with a single step".  Well done!
