- WAHID -

President Wahid of Indonesia is under pressure by the criminals of the displaced government who seek a return of the "good old times".   He is charged with corruption.   The charges are so ridiculous that it boggles the mind.  Suharto and his children and cronies stole $billions, now Wahid's servant is accused of stealing about $4 million, and Wahid is accused with non completion of the paperwork on a political donation of about $3 million.   Vice President Megawati, a power in her own right, supports him to the hilt.   She no doubt realizes that, if Wahid fell, she would have to Kowtow to the old guard, or soon fall herself.   Australians hope that the Indonesian people succeed in stopping this dangerous counter revolution.

- CLINTON'S LEGACY -

There is a stink of money on the Clinton presidency.  Stories of the sale of pardons, stories about the sale of accommodation in the White House, stories about overseas political donations and Whitewater.  Against those, stories about cigars are non sequiturs.

In Yugoslavia the failure of the Clinton/Blair invasion is daily becoming more apparent.  The KLA is now exposed as nothing but a criminal organization. That action, forced by the US and the UK against the better judgment of just about every other European state, illustrates the potential for the misuse of power by the US president.

In Israel the negotiations between the PLO and Israel are unraveling.  The partial success of the PLO has created a monster that may take many generations to quiet.  Those negotiations have exposed the political manipulation that can be done against the wishes of the citizens of a representative democracy.   When matters that affect a nation are decided, the citizens should decide by vote.

In the Tao Te Ching it is written:

The great rulers: the people do not notice their existence;
The lesser ones, they attach to & praise them.
The still lesser ones, they fear them.
The still lesser ones, they despise them.
