The Procedure to obtain results is:

0.  Go to the FARS site by selecting this link.

1.  "Select a Year to Query:" and then the "Submit" button.

2.  You should get the "Create a Query" screen, (which should look something like the target of this link)..

Select the following boxes:.

In Column 1

1. Crash Hour
2. Roadway function Class

In Column 2

1. Person Type
2. Police Reported Alcohol
3. Restraint System Used

In Column 3

1. Body Type,
   

  Now select the "Submit" button.

3  You should be on the "Choose Condition Criteria" screen (which should look like the target of this link).

There will be seven choice boxes.  Multiple selections within a box are available by use of the <Ctrl> key.

1. State : leave this set to "All States".
2. Crash Hour : select all times from 8:00 am to 5:59 pm.
3. Roadway Function Class: Select all roads containing the word "Urban".
4. Person Type: Select only "Driver of a motor vehicle in transport."
5. Police Reported Alcohol.  Select "All".
6. Restraint: Select "All".
7. Body Type: Select options labelled 1 through to 9 inclusive.

Then select the "Cross Tab" button.

4.  You should be on the "Create a Query" screen (Which should look like the target of this link).

There will be five pulldown menus.  You need attend only two of them.

1. For the row pulldown, select "Restraint system-use".
2. For the Column pulldown, select "Police-Reported Alcohol Involvement"

  Now select the "Submit" button.

5. You should obtain the result screen (which should show data like the target of this link).
