CREATING & INSERTING HYPERLINKS.
Definitions:
-
The SOURCE page is the page which contains the hyperlink.
-
The OBJECT page is where the hyperlink terminates.
-
Use NAVIGATOR 4.0 or higher to open the source page.
-
Use the mouse to select "file" from the text menu
-
Select "edit page" from the pulldown menu.
-
YOU ARE NOW IN NETSCAPE COMPOSER. You may write text, install links
& images, use colours and anything else that you can figure out how
to do.
-
Enter the text for the link, eg "GO TO NEWPAGE"
-
"Select" the text that is to provide the visible part of the link.
-
Use the mouse pointer to click the "link" icon on the toolbar.
-
Paste or type the URL of the object page, eg http://barvennon.com/~account/newpage.html.
It is good practise to open the object page and copy the URL of that page
from the "location" window, then paste it. It is important that the
URL begin with "http://"
-
If you want to invoke the e-mail facility, so that opening the link causes
an adressed e-mail to appear, type the word "mailto:john@net.com" with
a colon followed by the email address required.
-
Select "OK"
-
Select "file" then "save as" and save the file where it can later be found.
-
Close netscape editor.
