AUSTRALIAN  SPIN

- N. KOREA -

After Afghanistan, Bush's axis of evil is N. Korea, Iran, Iraq.

SPIN believes that N. Korea is the first axle that will be chosen for wheel removal, rebore, grease and replacement.

Not Iraq because it is now conciliatory.

Iran is at the center & cannot be first.

N.Korea is isolated, and China might tolerate serious destabilization on it's marches, especially if a panda paw was in the honey pot.

- Australian Politicians suck so much... -

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute is the latest of a plethora of money making (for politicians) ideas.  This one is a bobby dazzler.  Get together a few favoured mates, add the odd pollie (from each side of the house) to the lucratively paid board of directors, find a couple of successful (=unimaginative) academics, & pay millions of taxpayer's money to the mishmash to produce a few hoplessly useless opinions on imagined strategic situations & threats.

Last Saturday (2 February) an ASPI strategists confidently predicted (in the SMH) that Iraq would not be attacked by the USA because the USA could not obtain close support land bases.  Practically the next day, Iraq (possibly having a contrary opinion) began negotiations that appear to be intended to permit access to UN inspectors.

What better should we expect from our representatives?  It is not their fault, the framework is broken.
