HONG KONG UPDATE
Premier Xi has chosen to face down the protesters. He will undoubtedly win.
Beijing appears to be more interested in maintaining it's iron grip. This is not the mark of a mature culture. In mature cultures the people are not aware of the real rulers. Populist decisions are allowed, but the end result is not of consequence. Pien 76 sets out my thoughts.
Our culture has moved past wealth accumulation. We now live in a data culture. In earlier ages, wealth ensured that those dearest were safe from famine. Famine is no longer an issue. Now we must instead protect ourselves from the threat of those who worship the sword.
Mr. Xi, you are mistaken to think that face and fame are the issue.
